The Divina Comedia-litter
DOB August 11th 2003
Everybody gets to meet the mother. But the father deserves his tribute as well so this litter got names from the most famous work by Dante Alighierei (1265-1321).
In this litter three boys and one girl were born. Their names are: Vergilius, Beatrice, Nimrod and Epikuros.
Vergilius and Beatrice stayed with me. If you want to see pictures from their early days they can be found in the Swedish version of the website.
DOB January 23rd 2009
As the father is called Castor (one of the stars in Gemini) it had to be stars to give names for this litter.
In this litter only two girls were born. Bellatrix just lived a few days as she had cleft palate 🙁 Lyra stayed with me. If you want to see pictures from their early days they can be found in the Swedish version of the website.
Lyra got Cushing’s disease when she was 4½ years and I had to put her down.
With a father called Knutte they had to have names from motorcycle brands. ”Knutte” is what a motorbiker is called in Sweden.
Three girls and six boys were born, but one of the girls was not fully developed and died very early. Their names (in order of birth): Matchless, Harley-Davidson, Norton, Nimbus, Ossa (the one who died), Ducati, Henderson, Yamaha and Sunbeam. Harley-Davidson stays with me. If you want to see pictures from their early days they can be found in the Swedish version of the website.
DOB November 13th 2010
To me ”Abbe” = Abraham Lincoln so the name for this litter must be – presidents!
Bea got sick (Cushings syndrome) during her pregnancy (more about that will be found in Thoughts 7 & 8). In spite of that she gave birth to five boys (one stillborn) and four girls. During the first week two of the girls (Golda & Vigdis) died 🙁 . At the age of 3 ½ months Franklin was put to sleep due to an intestinal inflammation. I cried a lot but he did not get well so…
The remaining puppies are: Chaim, Tarja, Urho, Nestor and Vaira. And to help me through the sorrow I kept Vaira 🙂 If you want to see pictures from their early days they can be found in the Swedish version of the website.
DOB January 5th 2013
As this litter was not meant to be (the Swedish word for ”accidents” is tjuvparning thief mating) but happened by Tuva hiding her heat (and pregnancy) until ten days before the litter was born they all got names from famous thieves.
Three boys and one girl were born by a cesarean. I had given Tuva less food as she got bigger until I knew (too late) that she was pregnant. And a starving dog has no strength for giving birth!
The culprit was found by DNA – Tuva’s son Ville.
DOB July 25th 2016
It may seem strange to give the litter the name of a town in the far north.
The reason is that I borrowed the dam from friends living in Lycksele.
The owners are Birgitta & Per-Olof Schön.
Four boys and one girl were born.
